To the

Moon

It’s that time of the year again. Pixels Camp 2017 is up.

The theme this year is to the moon, but we won’t tell why just yet.

This year’s edition will take place at the beautiful Pavilhão Carlos Lopes, in Lisbon, Portugal, on the 28, 29 and 30th of September.

We couldn’t be more thrilled. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, in the heart of Lisbon and inside the magnificent Eduardo VII park with great accessibility. It has double the space and triple the beauty.

Registrations and call for talks are now open too.

Registrations

You know the drill. The event is 100% free for participants, but only the most talented and motivated will get in. Because the venue is so much bigger, we’re probably raising our attendance limits but don’t get too excited though, you should apply as soon as possible and be extra careful with the info you provide to us.

Here are some suggestions of things you can add to your bio and pitch when you apply:

  • Technologies you work with
  • Projects you’ve done
  • Things you’re interested in
  • Why you want to attend Pixels Camp
  • If you’ve been at previous similar events, what you did there

Remember: we don’t have the bandwidth to go sneaking on your personal webpage or blog looking for this information. You have to make it available in your Bio or Pitch.

Before you apply, please take a look at the rules and recommendations page.

Apply here.

Call for talks

If you feel inclined to be a speaker this year, that’s great too. Extra karma points for that. We’re looking for novelty and relevance. Try to awe the attendees with fresh insights about the future, and remember that you’ll be talking to one of the most hard-core and talented audiences on earth. Make good use of that.

We’re using the same process as last year’s. Go to our Github page to know how to submit a talk.

Pixels Campfires

Campfires

Last year’s edition clearly showed that our participants and speakers can, in fact, lead a strong and global movement of sharing knowledge and content around emerging technologies. We video recorded and edited every single talk at Pixels Camp and then made them available in the Pixels Camp Youtube Channel. The stats are impressive:

  • 107 talks online
  • 360.200 watched minutes
  • 1.415 videos shared in playlists

Pixels Camp is already one big free tech video content repositories online, but we can do more. We can all build an ambitious open platform where content, networking, and knowledge serves a bigger community of tech professionals and enthusiasts.

That’s where the Campfires initiative comes in.

Campfire Events are all year calendar of meetups, workshops, tech talks, network gatherings around Portugal and Europe in small venues or office facilities, organized by the Pixels Camp team, their partners, or participants. They can happen everywhere and in any date.

Here’s how it works:

  • The promotor, you, for instance, fills up a form for hosting a Campfire.
  • If you don’t have a place to host your event, we can help through our network of partners and provide you with free access to a number of great spaces with great accessibility and infrastructure.
  • We provide web streaming guidelines and tools.
  • We provide brand use guidelines, do and don’ts, and access to the Pixels Community.
  • We promote your talk through our channels are make sure everyone knows about it.

We’re still tweaking the details of the workflow and more info will follow in the upcoming days, but there’s a calendar online with a few Campfires happening soon, so make sure to attend them.

The first ones are this week!

Partners

We have quite a few big partners lined up already for this year. During the next weeks, we’ll be telling you who they are, how they’re going to help to make Pixels Camp 2017 the best tech event ever, and how you can get involved.
